We took our largest campervan, the Mesa, and gave it the ultimate upgrade.

What’s new? The Del Mar gives you the ability to stand while inside the vehicle, enough room to sleep 5 comfortably (without ever leaving the van), and more bells and whistles than any other Escape model, including USB chargers & lighting built directly into the pop top campervan. Similar to the Mesa, you can keep the rear bucket seats up when you put the bed down (perfect for families with car seats). Drawers and compartments underneath the back benches provide extra storage and organization.

Not the right fit for you? Check out our other fully-equipped vans that are custom-built, and hand-painted.

Below is the Del Mar diagram. The Del Mar shares the same features as the best-selling Mesa, plus the pop-top add-on and a few more bells and whistles.

Great van rental! Easy pick up and drop off. We had the Big Sur van and it was easy to drive! Cute paint job. Plenty of room inside for sleeping and storage. However, I do wish there were some kind of vents or way to open the windows in the sleeping area, so we didn't have to sleep with the back doors open. Las Vegas is a hot place to not have any ventilation. Be aware that the van is rear-wheel drive only, not 4WD!

Rented the Big Sur, which we felt was just enough space for 2 people. Enjoyed the rooftop tent for better air circulation as we stayed in Arizona. Small issue with grey line being clogged, but it was quickly resolved by having a technician come to us. Overall, it was a unique and fun way to explore on our holiday. Flexibility with having the same bed every night. No regrets I'd recommend this as an option for anyone wanting to explore.

Spent 3 weeks touring Colorado and other places with a Big Sur - now Mesa van. Wonderful experience, from van reception, through daily use and drop off (this one with tears in the eyes). All materials exactly as advertised, all items and van perfectly clean. Big thank you to Darren for his laughs, his practical recommendations, the smoothness of the reception and drop off processes, for his help with Denver's must-see addresses - and of course Stevie Ray Vaughan background music! Planning to be back next year...

We rented the Mesa (formerly known as the Big Sur) for a week explore through Oregon and northern California. We were pleased with the vehicle. It was easy to drive, back hatch kitchen was well designed, good storage space for our gear (we kept gear sufficient but light), and the bed was comfortable. One plus that we didn't think of is that the Coleman stove is not bolted into the sliding shelf, but can be taken to a picnic table for more room to prep meals. The most important thing to remember, if you are considering renting this vehicle, is that it is not an RV but a tripped out van. It's better than a tent but is very 'cozy.' They advertise 5 people with the roof topper....maybe kid type people. For us it was my wife and I plus our adult son who stayed in a tent (worked perfectly). If weather had been stormy we would've had to coordinate gear and bodies a bit more. That said, I would rent the Mesa again (nothing smaller for me). It gave us the flexibility to camp in places where a tent would not been allowed. And besides, it was fun to drive.

**MPG will depend on speeds driven, terrain/weather/road conditions
