How much does it cost to rent a camper in Florida?

The average daily rate for camper vans in Florida is $80-150. More compact campers with fewer features will be at the lower end of that range, and larger vans with more features will be at the higher end. You’ll also want to budget for other expenses like gas and mileage fees. Most camper rentals have mileage fees of $0.30-0.40 cents per mile you drive.

During times like spring break, when Florida experiences a larger influx of tourist traffic, camper rentals and other travel expenses are likely to be higher due to the big demand. So, consider the time of year you’re planning your trip to budget how much it’ll cost.

How old do you have to be to rent a camper in Florida?

To rent a camper in Florida, you must be at least 21 and hold a standard driver’s license. The age minimum also depends on the company you’re renting from. Some camper rental companies in Florida have higher age minimums up to 25 years old. So, ensure you check each company’s policies before planning to reserve a camper for your trip.

The reason why there’s a higher age minimum to rent camper vans is due to insurance costs. The premiums for younger drivers under 21 are much higher since they are inexperienced and can tend to take more risks. That means renting to younger drivers would be unprofitable for most companies due to the significant liability involved.

Just finished our 21 day trip from New York to Orlando. And it was fantastic. A few days before our trip we changed from the Maverick to the Big Sur and that was a good decision. Lot more space due to the extra row of chairs, which we used as storage space. We let the bed always in and didn’t change that during the day. And pro-tip: buy a topper at Ikea or Walmart. Its worth every Penny for a much better sleep experience. The check-in at New York and the check-out in Orlando was easy, friendly and efficiënt. The van, only with 135k on it, had some little issues (broken antenna, broken cigaret charger, broken handle fridge etc), but that were not big issues. The engine was great and drove perfectly. If you want a little smaller van and dont need wc or shower, or need to sit inside, escape campervans is a great company. Maybe they should do something with the offices, they look a little sad :)!

The staff was very friendly, informative, and helpful. They did a great job getting us on the road quickly -- even with a very thorough walkthrough of the van. The van itself was in great condition. Using all of the features and converting the benches to the bed was super-easy. Overall we had a fun time with the van and slept like logs out in the woods.

I rented an Escape Campervan from Orlando an had an absolute blast! The staff were super friendly and helpful. The van was clean and I had no issues for the whole week. I loved the convenience of rolling up to a camp ground and not having to set up a tent it also made brake down in the morning very easy. I did drive over the 100 miles a day limit and ended up paying more unfortunately but overall well worth the experience! 10 out of 10 would recommend =)

Booked a Mavericks for our 10 day East Coast road trip (from Orlando to New York) and it couldn't have been a better decision! Richard was amazing at pickup, he explained everything, made sure we had everything we booked and were ready for the trip. The van itself drove reliably, even with the rooftop sleeper on the roof (which does limit its safe max. speed, but then, you don't need to worry about being the fastest on the highway). There is nothing negative to highlight, definitely a trip worth remembering. Would book again with Escape, anytime.

After 47 days of road trip across the US from Orlando to SF, we definitely recommend this rental company ! The employees are always nice and respectful, the customer service is quick and efficient, and there are plenty of options to customize your trip. The van is getting old and the engine isn't really powerful, but it's still giving a very nice driving experience. After 5600 miles we had an issue with the starter of our van, so we've been to the Las Vegas agency and they gave us straight a new van that was already setup.

It was a fantastic experience to have a 17-day trip with Escape Campervan. We travelled around Florida with the gorgeous van - Montana! The check-in and out are super smooth. The maintenance of the almost 300k miles veteran van is great, we didn’t meet any issue at all. The water from the sink may not be that convenient to use since we will need to have a person doing pumping while another guy washing things or collecting water.I would definitely travel with escape camper van after moving to SF soon!!

This was our first experience with Escape Camper Vans and it was a great one! We picked up in Orlando for a trip to Key West and our reception couldn't have been more pleasant. The check-in process was quick and seamless, and Richard is easily the most personable and likable customer service representative we've ever dealt with. He took great care of us on either side of the trip and our experiences at the cozy little Orlando "office" were unexpectedly wonderful bookends to our trip.We rented one of the Mavericks and it was perfectly sized for one couple. The van drove nicely and fit into regular parking spots. It was obviously an older and well-used model, but it was clean and had everything we needed. The bed conversion wasn't too strenuous and there was lots of storage, including ample cup holders that could accommodate a full-sized Nalgene bottle—a real treat. The bed was shockingly comfortable and we were able to keep the windows down at night (thanks to the Bug Socs we also rented!), which kept the inside temp comfortable, even in the Keys. Keeping the privacy shades drawn during the day also ensured the van didn't heat up too much while it was parked. We didn't end up using the stove, but the sink and mini fridge were awesome and really leveled up our trip.We got "The Wizard" van and to be honest, the artwork wasn't really our style. I was disappointed that there wasn't an option to choose from the available designs, even for an additional cost. However, we came to appreciate it, referring to it as the "Magical Mushroom Machine," which fit in just fine in Key West and we got a surprising number of compliments on it.Overall, we were thrilled with our experience with Escape Camper Vans. Highly recommend this company, the Orlando pickup location (Richard!!), and #vanlife adventures. We'll be back!
