When you’re vacationing to Yosemite National Park for some unforgettable camping, you should definitely pick up an Escape Camper Vans camper van. The modern amenities built into the campervan provide much needed comforts for the outdoors such as a mobile kitchen and a comfortable queen-size bed. The best perk is that all of the amenities are built in to a small package that remains mobile enough to take you where you’ve never gone before and where RVs can’t go.
Hands down, getting a campervan rental for Yosemite camping is the best way to go.
The closest place to Yosemite to rent a campervan is our San Francisco campervan rental depot. From there you can travel through the Sierra Nevada mountains and see towering sequoias, El Capitan, Tunnel View, and everything Yosemite has to offer. Talk about starting the trip off on the right foot!
Then when the sun goes down, prepare an awesome dinner using your mobile kitchen and relax in a comfortable queen-size bed.
Forget RVs, Use A Campervan Rental For The Ultimate Yosemite Camping Trip
You’ve probably known friends who had a Yosemite RV rental for their getaway, but there are a few reasons to reserve a campervan rental instead.
An Escape campervan comes with many of the same amenities as an RV, but in a colorful, more agile form. Similar to an RV, a campervan has a functional kitchen, a table and bench, and a queen-size bed. However, it’s more compact so that everything is easier to use. For instance, the bed only folds out when you’re ready to use it.
When you get a campervan rental, your road trip isn’t limited to the main roads or overcrowded RV campsites. Your campervan can easily camp at more secluded tent sites. And campervans don’t need the electric or sewer hookups like an RV does.
Campervans also work great for dispersed camping!
But Which Escape Campervan Should You Rent For Yosemite?
There are a couple of factors to keep in mind when choosing which Escape Campervan to take to Yosemite. Our San Francisco Depot has the Mavericks, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, and Newport Camper.
Our most popular campervan is the Mavericks. This Escape campervan gives you a cozy queen-size bed, foldaway in-van table, and benches. The kitchen in back includes a 2-burner propane stove, dual powered refrigerator, and a sink. The Mavericks is well-suited for a couple’s getaway to Yosemite. But it can sleep 5, so it can fit friends, too. We also offer rooftop sleepers if you want your kids to have their own space.
If you need extra room for your stuff, or if you’re taking a longer road trip, consider the Big Sur campervan. With the Big Sur, you get the same amenities as the Mavericks. Yet it’s big enough that you don’t need to fold down the bucket seats to pull out your queen-size bed. The Big Sur also includes more storage space. So go ahead and take a fun toy like an inflatable paddleboard. You can even go for the optional rooftop sleeper.
For individual travelers or couples, you can select the Santa Cruz campervan model. This provides the luxuries of our larger campervan models in a smaller package. *The Santa Cruz campers are only available at certain depots.
Escape campervans rentals feature our unique, hand-painted exteriors that let you showcase your adventurous side. You can even rent campervan extras for Yosemite National Park like kitchen kits, tents, and child safety seats to make your trip more comfortable. And with each rental, you’ll get individual customer care and 24/7 roadside assistance absolutely free!
Where Will You Pick Up Your Yosemite Campervan Rental?
You’ll have to pick up your Escape campervan in San Francisco to start your campervan vacation to Yosemite National Park. You can also pick up in our Los Angeles or Las Vegas depot if you’re taking an extended trip.
Find our San Francisco depot on Clawiter Rd in Hayward, CA, which is only a short 20-min Lyft, Uber, or cab ride from San Francisco International Airport. Our San Francisco campervan depot team will walk you around your Escape campervan so you learn how to use its features. They’ll answer any questions you may have before you leave — especially about Yosemite, and the best places to visit.
How To Get To Yosemite National Park From San Francisco
From the San Francisco Escape depot, it’s about 3.5 hours to Yosemite National Park, heading east along CA-120 E. Once you reach Yosemite, go through the Big Oak Flat Entrance or the Arch Rock Entrance. Admission is $35/car for seven days, but free if you show a National Park pass.
What Are Awesome Places To Camp At Yosemite?
Like many Escape campervan renters, you could book a campsite in Yosemite Valley at the Upper, Middle, or Lower Pines Campgrounds. We recommend calling ahead to make reservations — especially in the high season from May to October. Of course, you won’t need a huge RV site or sewer hookups, meaning you can camp almost anywhere!
If you’re more of an impromptu camper, you can stay at the first-come-first-serve campgrounds along Tioga Pass Woods. Some favorites include White Wolf or Tamarack Flat. Or just do some dispersed camping near Yosemite National Park with your Escape campervan. Just know, dispersed camping means roughing it without bathrooms or fire pits, so you want to abide by the Leave No Trace principles.
