Our family of 3 rented a Big Sur with rooftop sleeper for 10 days to spend time in Banff, Jasper and Yoho end of June/early July. This was our third time renting from Escape Campervans (Seattle, Las Vegas, and now Calgary) and this was by far the best experience. Aaron explained everything thoroughly when we picked up the van, had great suggestions for things to see and do that were away from the crowds, and walked through a checklist of things we might have forgotten to bring that he could provide which helped immensely. The van was in great shape, ran like a champ up and down the hills of the Icefields Parkway, and all of the campervan features (stove, fridge, sink, rooftop sleeper, etc.) worked without a hitch. Beds and bedding were warm and comfortable, though we had to buy a blanket midway through the trip because it was unusually cold at night for July. At the end of our trip we dropped off the van in the afternoon rather than the next morning in order to make our morning flight. Aaron was there again to handle the drop off process quickly and efficiently. Since we were the last customer of the day he offered to give us a ride to our hotel which is unheard of and was very much appreciated. Talk about over-the-top service! We'd definitely rent here again!... Read More

Rented the maverick van for a camping trip with my girlfriend and the van was perfect and had everything we needed. The pickup/drop off was quick and simple. Only negative was the pickup/drop off times (earliest pickup 1pm, latest drop off 10:00 a.m.)... Read More

Very helpful and friendly team who went out of their way to make sure we had a great vacation. This was a fun way to travel. We rented the Big Sur, and it was a good fit for 3 adults & a child, but only because we had a rooftop sleeper as well. The one we got was very reliable and we were especially grateful for the air conditioner on 90 degree days!... Read More

A once and a lifetime experience. We spent 7 days in our Maverick campervan traveling one-way through 4 states starting in Seattle and ending in San Francisco. Our van was a 2012 ford e-series with about 250,000 miles. I’ll admit I was worried about that many miles but this van handled our 1200+ mile journey like a champ. From hiking up steep elevations at Mt Rainer to the blazing heat of Nevada, this van was truly a beast. The fridge and stove worked great, the bed was relatively easy to set up, and it was very spacious for me and my girlfriend. We did however break up the trip with a few hotels just so we could shower. One of the perks of Escape is you are driving a regular size van and not some massive camper. The only issues we ran into on our trip was when we journeyed into the cities. Parking is a major pain and most parking garages only have 6’-8” clearance (our van with the tent topper required 9’-0”). We struggled but eventually found street parking and some overnight lots. Definitely should have planned out our city excursions in advance. Last but not least, the cost. The cost for the van was NOT cheap. Between the extra miles fee & one-way fee (oh yea and gas isn’t cheap if you haven’t heard) it came out to a lot more than we were hoping to spend. These fees were clearly written out when we booked, but it’s just something to keep in mind when budgeting. Ultimately the experience we had made it more than worth it. Coming from NY this was something that was totally out of our comfort zone. I would highly recommend a trip like this for everyone.... Read More

The van experience was great! They had all the add-ons we needed, and the van was clean and reliable! The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is because the check experience was not good. We made an appointment for 1:30 to pick up the van, and no one even started helping us until 2:20. The check in process was chaotic and felt unorganized, but the staff was very nice which helped a ton. Definitely would do again and recommend, just could be better at the pick up process!... Rented an escape camper van from Seattle and explored Washington. This was an unforgettable experience. Having the van provides you with the flexibility to go anywhere, at any time, without being locked into a hotel/Airbnb/motel in a given location. The van itself was so comfortable and roomy. There are black out curtains that work incredibly well. The staff members at the Seattle hub were beyond lovely, especially David who helped us out - he is so friendly and helpful. I strongly suggest this company to anyone looking for a fun, incredible experience.... Read More

Another great trip with Escape Camper Vans! This was our second trip with them and the van (and service) was great! This time our van was covered in a donut mural, it put lots of smiles on faces as we drove past. Plus, it also made it finding our van in parking lots easy too!... Read More

While our Big Sur, Mavericks, and Santa Cruz models don’t have bathrooms, our renters do just fine using campground facilities and public restrooms, and practicing Leave No Trace principles when dispersed camping. It is a matter of your own comfort level, but the freedom that campervan travel gives you compared to RVs is worth it for many!

  • Big Sur: Seats 5, sleeps up to 5 (2-3 in queen bed, 2 in rooftop sleeper if added).
  • Mavericks: Seats 5, sleeps up to 5 (2-3 in queen bed, 2 in rooftop sleeper if added).
  • Santa Cruz: Seats and sleeps 2 (1 double bed).
  • Jeep Camper:  Seats up to 5 (designed for 2) and sleeps 2 (rooftop sleeper).

Seating is according to how many seat belts are available in each vehicle. You can always add the rooftop sleeper (Big Sur and Mavericks only, standard on Jeep Camper) or bring along our ground tent accessory to sleep more people. Bedding kits are available for rent to accommodate the number of people in your party.
