Escape Campervans remain very booked up over the Californian Winter.
The Californian Winter is not harsh like in the UK, Europe and New Zealand.
Although it's colder than the Summer Months, we supply you with all the necessarry items to keep warm and comfortable at night.
Winter in the USA is between 21st December and March 21st.
California may have a lot of hot deserts, but it also gets a surprising amount of snow, especially in the high country. Luckily, most snow falls on rural or semi-rural areas, so most drivers don't have to deal with this on a daily basis for long periods of time (the major exception is the whole Truckee / Lake Tahoe / Reno / Carson City area in Northern California and Nevada). |

|
If you're traversing the Sierra or high country for some reason (skiing at Tahoe or driving to Reno or Portland, for example) you may encounter snow any time between early November and late May.
Escape Campervans supply snow chains for only $50/trip.
It's unlikely you will need to use the chains, but to traverse some of the high country, you are often required to carry them by law.
The climate in California varies significantly from one location to another. Basically, it is semi-tropical along the southern coast with arid desert in most of the southern and eastern extremities. In the north, it is mildly temperate with colder alpine climates at the higher altitudes.

If you are looking to Escape the cold in the American Winter, we suggest heading to Arizona.
A winter getaway to Arizona is usually synonymous with sun-baked cactus, golf, swimming pools, and a great tan. But less than an hour away from the balmy links there is another world; a frostbitten alpine environment of dramatic scenery, pristine ski runs through tall pines, and clear skies.
California is simply amazing. You can lounge on a warm sandy beach, drive up a mountain to ski on snow covered slopes or drive down into the intense heat of the desert, and you can do it all in the same day! |
The majority of Californians live in places where it simply doesn't rain at all for six to nine months of each year and when it does rain, not a lot actually comes out of the sky.
